County Museum Of Art, Los Angeles Reviews

  • This is only for the Friday jazz concerts. I have not actually been inside the museum but have gone several times for the free jazz concert. It is a great place to bring a blanket and picnic. The seating fills up fast, but there is usually some space you can find on the grass to the sides. We go not because we listed to the quality of the music. It is more a great place to have some pleasant music in the background while chatting with friends. Parking can be tough if you get there late.

  • FREE Jazz performance!!! This is the 23rd year they are organizing Jazz Nights. Tables & chairs are setup in the courtyard, next to Coffee & Milk shop. People will come in the early afternoon, setup their picnic table and enjoy the food & wine. The show starts at 6pm sharp for 2 hours. No better way to enjoy a beautiful evening with live Jazz music!! Parking: $12 (since no admission fee for the show, come with your family or friends in one car, totally worth it!!)

  • One of my favorite museum spaces in LA. Their collection is expensive! There is something for all tastes from ancient Egypt to Japanese and Contemporary art. Their permanent collection is rotating, so you will always find something new. They have a great family space and programs that engage kids in looking at and making art. Free guided tours are offered on weekends. Warning: the museum is undergoing a massive building project over the next 3 years. Many of the buildings will be closed and off limits until construction is done. It may not be worth the ticket price until they reopen.

  • So wonderful, so amazing, it is really lovely to see the Rodin out in the light of day ! Coming from the East Coast I've primarily seen his works indoors at the Brooklyn Museum of Art; including The Burghers of Calais, which is unsurpassed in my opinion. But, there is something to be said for natural daylight and shadows playing in his works. My humble pics don't do the master justice. We also enjoyed the many exhibits on the interior of LACMA, particularly the one with the Japanese parchments.

  • An very diverse collection of amazing art and historical artifacts. The collection of Picasso paintings impressed me. When we went they had a exhibition on 3D media. I have no idea how long this will last, but it was very interesting. I was amazed to learn how long images have been presented in three dimensions.
