Craft Los Angeles, Los Angeles Reviews - Write a Review
This New American restaurant offers exceptional food, soothing atmosphere and great staff. It is located on one of the most beautiful streets, in my opinion, in Century City, Avenue of the Stars. There is a large glass panel window, giving a fantastic view of the urban night lights. One of the restaurant's distinguishing features is that it offers to put a message or a name on the menu. You will need to call ahead of time to let them know.
Always an amazing experience. Craft LA is located on the South side Constellation Blvd in between Avenue of the Stars and Century Park. There's valet parking out front, or you can park underneath the compex with complementary validation (be prepared to stop and pop your trunk so the gate attendant can look inside before they let you into the garage). There are multiple levels and plenty of available parking during normal dinner hours. The host station is located immediately inside the door to Craft, with the bar off to the side. There are a small number of stools at the bar and some informal tables and seating guests can use while waiting if arriving early or the full party isn't available and you don't want to sit alone. The bartenders are excellent. (Restrooms are located around behind the bar.) Seating is further in past the bar area. There are a number of larger booths that run down one side of the restaurant, with smaller tables in the center and larger round tables along the other side of the restaurant. There is some outdoor seating. Menus are printed daily. Some standouts are the 36-hour braised short rib, the brussel sprouts, any of the mushrooms, and the scallops. Bread and butter is served with every meal, along with an amuse to start and a take-home at the end (currently a really good granola). A full meal at Craft can be pricey, especially if you're looking to try a large variety of dishes. Nearly all of the food is served in a way that is comfortable family style, so if you can put together a good size party it makes it very easy to share and have a bit of everything. Wait-staff has always come through for me with recommendations if I needed advice pairing dishes or coming up with a count for how many starters and sides to share with the table. Wine list is excellent.
Great service and the food are good. All portions meant for sharing and good for a company of 4. The beef and duck was tender, mash was exceptional. Roasted vegetable was a bit expensive. The grilled octopus a must have.
Great service. Solid food but prices were a bit out of line with what you get - especially on drinks.
I would give Craft 4.5 stars if I could: 5 stars for the ambiance (low lights, pretty romantic), the pork belly (melt-in-your-mouth delicious) and the cheddar cheese grits (their specialty). ------------------------------------------- 4 stars for the bass (I wanted the snapper but our server wouldn't let two people at our table get the same dish). I did get to sample the snapper, which was wonderful, but the bass was a little tough and not very flavorful. Also 4 stars for the parking - I didn't want to valet and the parking structure was incredibly confusing.
