Muscle Beach means exactly what it sounds like. This beach is located on the south of Saint Monica Pier and is frequented by fitness enthusiasts at all times of the day. The Muscle Beach was opened up in 1933 and was one of the very first beachside gyms to come up in the area. Muscle Beach Venice is its successor and is located at a distance of roughly 3 miles from the authentic location of Muscle Beach. It started for giving a platform to fitness enthusiasts to come together and bring about physical awareness while enjoying each moment of the experience. Today, it stands as the beach which gives a healthy touch to the otherwise glamorous Saint Monica Pier.

  • I give it 5 stars because the experience and history of the place is humbling. Gives you goosebumps for sure. To walk around on Arnold’s training grounds is pretty neat. However the outdoor training facility isn’t really the most sanitary spot to train in and the equipment is rusted because of the salt in the air. If this is your style then go for it, otherwise seek out an indoor facility. Lots of gymnastic skill equipment to use as well outside of the facility gaits. And of course... the beach is great.

  • Beautiful beach. Lovely sand. Has a weird smell to the place, but nothing too outrageous. Some parking options available, but might have to walk a bit.

  • Joe Wheatley puts on the best Free shows. Awesome vendors and competitors. Thanks Joe

  • The skateboard park was very interesting to watch. Nice beach and the the lighted bicycle parade was nice. Never a dull moment

  • Venice Muscle beach was a flashback to the 80’s when I would hang out and watch all kinds of creative people do their own thing. I had an amazing time with my teenage kids. I was surprised at how clean the beach was. The boardwalk was just like back in the day. A fun filled place with all kinds of unique artist and performers.Be ok and prepared to smell a lot of cannabis and always be an open minded traveler.
