Skirball Cultural Center - Review

Skirball Cultural Centre is empowering in so many ways. It is basically an educational institution situated in Los Angeles. Its main motive is to look after sustaining the Jewish ideologies, as well as, American Democratic learnings. It has been available for public access ever since the year 1996. It is a great place to start learning what Jewish customs were like and all the American Democratic ideals. The way they communicate this is very interesting, as they have various exhibits, films, music, lectures, readings that tell you more and more about this place and all that it represents. Also, visit the popular attractions in the city by following Los Angeles itinerary 5 days.

Skirball Cultural Center, Los Angeles Reviews

  • We visited the Skirball CC when they had the Henson exhibition. There is plenty of parking underground and also across the street. We went during the weekend, and it was packed. We waited a very long time in the ticket line and then in exhibit line. We probably spent half of our time there waiting in line. The building and overall exhibit space are a little small... We enjoyed the Jim Henson exhibit, but we left thinking that it was a bit on the small size. We did enjoy the grounds however, and the building itself is beautiful and beautifully kept up. If we see another interesting exhibit come up, we may try to go right when they open.

  • Went for their free admission Thursday to visit the Jim Henson exhibit and Noah's Ark with two kids. Got there 20 minutes before they opened and got in the line that was already well formed. By the time we got our tickets, the first available entrance time for Noah's Ark was 12:30, which was perfect for us. The kids really enjoyed the interactive exhibit and the 90 minutes allotted passed quickly. Would definitely recommend and go again

  • Visited the Skirball CC for the temporary Jim Henson exhibition - and what an exhibition it is! A true masterpiece with wonderful features (including many original puppets), video excerpts from many of Henson's works, and insights into the behind the scenes of the creative process and bringing to life of the Muppets. Staff are friendly, and the many volunteer guides are always there to point you in the right direction if you're a little lost. The signage in the centre isn't the greatest, and particularly on a Thursday (when general admission is FREE), the museum can get very busy and chaotic. Best to turn up particularly early on a Thursday to beat the rush and enjoy the exhibits at your own pace. Aside from the Henson exhibition, the Skirball also hosts a permanent exhibition on Jews in the US, their cultural impact, the hardships of settling in the US, and the like. A very informative and interesting collection. Well worth a look.

  • Love this place, once we got in. Get there early if they have a popular traveling exhibit because spots sell fast. We love seeing the Jim Henson exhibit. Of course, they have a permanent exhibit of Noah's Ark. Definitely a neat place to take the kiddos.

  • They had an awesome Jim Henson's Muppets exhibit, and we got into the center for free, so that's hard to beat. Check the days, and you can get the same deal. Well-run establishment with some great exhibits. I recommend it if you have the time. There's so much to do in LA, but this is worth the stop.
