Do something exciting in the evening on your trip to the town of Lowell in Michigan. Visit the James C Veen Observatory in Lowell. Built in the 1960s and opened to public in 1970, James C Veen Observatory is a great place for adults and kids alike. Apart from the three main telescopes housed in the observatory, there is also a Dobsonian telescope and a Lunt telescope with which you can see solar occurrences. They host public nights on selected days of the year when you can see celestial bodies at close quarters with the telescopes. During special astronomical occurrences, they also hold public events that you can attend if you happen to be in the area.
