Located on the top of Mount Phousi is That Chomsi. This temple was built in 1804 during the rule of King Anourouth and is a symbol of Luang Prabang’s spiritual significance. Also situated near the temple is another temple called Tham Phousi Shrine which consists statues of a big–bellied Buddha and a reclining Buddha. That Chomsi Stupa offers a 360-degree panoramic view of the beautiful town of Luang Prabang along with its mighty rivers. Legend has it that the site of this temple used to be a deep pit that led directly to the centre of the earth. That Chomsi is one of the holiest temples in Luang Prabang.
