Guinigi Tower, Lucca Reviews - Write a Review
Not a severe climb unlike other towers in Tuscany & worth the effort when reaching the top with lovely views across the city & stunning vistas of the surrounding countryside. Not a lot of room to manoeuvre due to the olive trees planted & of course other visitors. We went in the late afternoon & the site was not to busy. The trees on top make it rather quirky as well.
Great views, the trees at the top of the tower provide shade and a nice contrast to the stone and brick all around. More romantic than the tops of most other towers. Climb is reasonable and except for one flight onto the top floor, wide enough for two to pass comfortably.
The tower itself is nothing special. Just another brick tower. But when you get to the top of it, the view is just awsome. The red roofs; gardens grown on balconies; the mountains in the background. Simply jaw dropping view. If you happen to be in Lucca it's one of the must to go places.
Outstanding view around the whole city of Lucca. Impressive is an understatement. The trees in Top make you feel as if you were standing on the top of a hill, not a tower.
Perfect view to old city of Lucca, be prepared to climb more than 200 steps! Worth a try!
