Built in the mid-eighteenth century by the British, Fort Charlotte was named in honour of Charlotte, consort of King George III. It is one of the best-preserved historical structures in Jamaica. The fort offers great seaward views and interesting insight into the history of the town. The fort has 23 embrasures and barracks that can house upto 50 men. A section of the fort is currently part of the Rusea’s High School.
