The Residency Lucknow, Lucknow Reviews
Important archaeological site that is located in Lucknow. This Residency was initially owned by British people later on taken by Government of India. I had memorable visit to this Residency. One should visit early morning so that you can see many kinds of birds and animals that are roaming here and there. Many people use to come here for walking in the early morning and they used to feed most of the animals over there. So it is really good opportunity for us to see this kind of activities over there. Inside the Residency there is one Museum, one should not miss this Museum which depict the various activities occurred in this Residency.
This is a historical place. Government tried to maintain the ruins of the buildings. One can see the shell and bullet marks on the walls of the remaining parts of the buildings. They placed the plates to describe the building's usages. The history students must be thrilled to see this place and can feel the 1857 fight warmth. They have a small museum also. But it is open from 0900 to 1700, everyday. So to see the 1857 artifacts one must be there before 1600 hrs. We missed that! The area is huge and you can roam around all the areas. There are some things for architecture guys also. The buildings are designed on different mixed architectures. And don't miss the big cannons. There is a mosque and majar inside. Though not sure how it is related to the place or the history. I am not a history lover!
Beautiful and Serene place in the middle of Urban madness of Lucknow. Reminds one of important historical event - the 1857 mutiny a and how it was carried out. The buildings still bear bullet marks. They still are all seems and ammunition used during those times, kept in the museum. Besides, The lawns are b beautifully maintained. Place is full of greenery. The place also has a Mogul connection - through a mazar.
Little morbid because it's basically the remains after a war. But historically very significant. Also nice for long walks. Used to be a couples' spot at one point. Now, not so much I think. Houses a good museum also.
It was okay okay type. We couldn't find a guide here otherwise we could have known better about this place. This place was a picnic spot rather than a historical place. We went there on Friday, so we couldn't visit 1857 museum as it remains close on Fridays. So, it's better to visit here on non Fridays. You will see the ruins of periodical monuments here in The Residency. Also there is a graveyard, but it's not that creepy, tourists use to take pics here too.
