The seat of the Archbishop of Lyon, this Roman Catholic church boasts at least one historically significant wedding – that of King Henry IV to Marie de Medici. Contraction, which finished in 1476, happened on site of three previous churches that stood here, a Church of the Holy Cross, a St. Stephens Church and a baptistery. While most of the church is Gothic (nave with flying buttresses, Chapel of the Bourbons) the apse and the choir ar Romanesque. Check out the 13th century stained glass windows and the 14th century astronomical clock in the north Transept. The clock, imitating Strasbourg’s, is widely revered as a technical marvel, chimes at 1200, 1400, 1500 and 1600 as figures of Switzerland, Gabriel, Marie and the Holy Spirit move about. Enjoy the views of the city from the top. Light a candle for a close one. At the pretty square outside, you’ll find restaurant, crepes and ice creams.

J'ai adoré m'asseoir devant la cathédrale et observer la Basilique de Fourvière. C'est un lieu très apaisant, presque un sanctuaire. À visiter !
A favourite place of mine. Currently undergoing work inside and out, but beautiful. With things that you sometimes miss, but each time you see more.
So beautiful and it's in the center of town! Don't go during the school holidays!
This is a very impressive Church and Cathedral that is still a working Church. They have been on that spot since the ~400 AD. The ruins are on the North side of the Church. There were many volunteers working there. The church was under renovation but it looked like they had a choir getting ready to sing The Church currently standing is impressive. It has a fun plaza in front and some cute alleys to explore very near by.
A beautiful, modest cathedral.
