The GuiaFortess is another relic of the Portuguese rule in Macau. The typical architecture of the fort makes it very important to the heritage of Macau.

It had become an important strategic location in this area over the years. There is also a light house which is a part of the complex that people love to see.

The simplicity, practicality and beauty of the place are most definitely worth seeing. There is a chapel inside the fortress too. There are also some interesting paintings inside this chapel. The Paintings are an amazing example of the amalgamation of the Portuguese and the Chinese cultures in Macau. Also, visit the popular attractions in the city by following Macau Itinerary 3 Days.

The house of prayer or the widely known Capela de Nossa Senhora da Guia, was constructed, decorated and adorned during 1622, within the premises of the Guia Fortress.

In 1998, frescoes were uncovered in the church throughout routine preservation and restoration advancements.

  • The fort was already partially built in 1638 when the Dutch attempted to capture Macau from the Portuguese, but unsuccessfully. The lighthouse was erected in 1864. Fortifications and tunnels were added and saw action during WW2. The complex is now part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Historic Centre of Macau.

  • Good view. A bit tiring to reach, but it's a nice stroll. Recommended.

  • Wonderful place, you can see Macau from this place :) As usual Macau government very care to many historycal building

  • Good views from the top. We hiked up it and wasn’t a bad hike. Many runners exercising around the area. Quite lovely views.

  • This is a really sweet place to visit! Lots of history took place within the walls of this fort. I do highly recommend taking a cab up the mountain to the fortress, especially if you have no idea how to walk there. Once up there, you'll find fantastic views of Macau (below are three pictures from atop the fort) while breathing in clean, fresh air. Entrance is free to the public
