One of the best known landmarks of Macau, the ruins of St. Paul’s is a must see item, which must make it to every itinerary. This seventeenth century church is dedicated to the apostle St. Paul, and was one of Asia’s largest catholic churches at the time. Today, the building stands in ruins, but it is still reminiscent of the grandeur it once held. The church’s facade stands tall, and you can see beautiful stone carvings lining the wall. The carvings of Virgin Mary line the architecture, and merges well with oriental themes of dragons and conquest. Today, this fantastic landmark stands as a historic relic, and something that retains its charm even in its ruins.
