Built in a classic Italian Renaissance Revival style in 1855, the Johnston Felton Hay House is a historic palatial residence in Macon. The mansion has an astounding 24 rooms spread over an area of 18000 square feet, and the whole house is decked with amenities that were ultra modern for the age it was built in. Such was its magnificence that many dubbed the house as the “Palace of the South”, and only a visit can truly make one understand the enchanting beauty of the House.

  • This place is pretty cool! You get to see a lot of unique architectural features, cutting edge period technology and a friendly, knowledgeable staff. The house is still being restored so not all of the rooms are available to see.

  • Really really neat place. A must-see see if you're a tourist in Macon. I'm constantly surprised that people who have lived in Macon for so long and never been.

  • Beautiful home. Friendly staff. Lots of history.

  • Lovely tour of southern history. Enjoyed hearing about the families that lived there. It was a little warm, but you must expect that in GA in August.

  • Best historical house I have visited so far. The wood work is amazing.
