Abbey Falls - Review

‘Abbi’ means ‘waterfall’ in the local Coorgi language. Abbey falls are Coorg’s star attraction because of their joyous silver cascade that gushes down to about 70 feet below. The route to the falls is through beautiful coffee plantations and provides the perfect beginning to the beautiful sight that slowly unfolds in front of your eyes. Well maintained and extremely popular, these falls are a must visit in the monsoons. Feel gentle sprays splash across your face as you become a part of this glorious show of nature.

  • Beautiful place to visit with both family and friends. There is a nice trail to the falls, on this path we can see different kinds of trees and their names. Well maintained place. Outside the falls area, there are few eateries also. It is a good place to visit, best would be the rainy season. The road to the falls area is a little tricky, it is better driven by a local or an expert driver.

  • It's a nice place to spend time with friends or family, we went in monsoon season so there were no bathing scenes. You can just adore the beauty of it from a distance and also can get the water drizzles. Best scenery it provides. You need to walk down like some 70-80 steps.

  • Now is probably the best time to visit Abbey falls! There have been heavy rains for the past week and the water flow there is the highest of that I have seen during my multiple visits. The falls has a gradual decent steps built from the road till the waterfall. The descent is in itself has a very thick forest surrounding and offers very good views all around. Although there is hardly anything that you can do here, the falls itself is good to watch and enjoy. The hanging bridge in front of the fall is closed for public. There are many shops outside the falls that offer refreshments. The parking here is ample but not in a good shape.

  • The waterfall is near to madikeri town and it's popular tourist attraction hence it will be crowded most of the times. June to September is the best time to visit this places. If you are adventure enthusiast you might find this place boring because swimming or any kind of water support is strictly prohibited here . You can just see the falls from the view point. The basic facilities like parking , restroom and etc are well maintained. The trail from parking till waterfalls is not too hard to walk. Overall it's a great place to visit ..

  • One of the best fall around coorg region. A beautiful sight to watch. You have to take a deep walk of around 500 steps below to get to the fall. The path has been recently built with concrete steps, So it's quite easy to get to the fall. The is also a suspension bridge right opposite to the fall. One must also carry rain coats because you never predict weather there.
