Serene nature which can mesmerize you with its beauty. Wonderful place for trekking and they also have jeeps which take you above the hills. Trekking is not that difficult. Visits during rain is difficult but that's what this place is renown for.
Treacherous way to reach the place. Not for the faint hearted. Will need to hire a 4 wheel drive jeep from midway to reach the very top. Its not worth it to take ones own vehicle as it will definitely get stuck. Make sure it's not much fog to enjoy the from the top. I was unlucky to find heavy rains on the top but still enjoyed the journey and the views on the way.
Forest/local authorities needs to repair the road at any cost. The roads are getting worse year by year. If the roads are better it will attract more tourists. Suggestions for tourists is that if you park at mandalpatti from which the hill point is 3km don't pay more than 1k and actual point is near forest office. Jeep drivers will drop tourists in some point and say that this is the point, so don't get fooled after paying so much money.
It's one of those few places where the journey till the destination is as beautiful as it is to arrive. The off-road tracks littered with mud and stone and riding upon the jeeps is one of the best feelings ever. Once you eventually do reach the foot of Mandalpatti the eventual climb on foot and then the vastness of the sky and the wind in your face, is an experience you cannot have at very many places. Simply put it is one of the best places I've visited.
Awesome view...... You could go by your own vehicle upto a point and from there you need to hire a Jeep. Upon reaching the point you need to climb the hill, not much though. The roads weren't that great when I went.
