Ever been to a sherry bar? Doesn’t matter, because this is the only one you need to know about. The second you step in. It’s like going back to the early 20th century; the shelves are dusty and the wine is poured directly to you form barrels; the décor isn’t vintage… because everything IS vintage. Don’t expect any loud music or sycophantic staff; the waiter here is refreshingly surly. All you’re going to get here is a sherry, the smell of sherry and tapas. Also try the Serrano. This place is about chilling, not partying.

  • This bar is like stepping back in time. It felt like Hemingway could have been drinking next to me. You choose one of 5 sherries (the bartender asked if we wanted high or low alcohol content, and dry or sweet). This is a really fun place to go when you visit Madrid.

  • I was recommended this sherry wine tapas bar and really fell in love. As a foreigner I didn't feel like the staff were cold to me at all - just don't expect them to hold your hand and smile consistently at you if you're new to the tapas bar concept. It's a simple and very affordable concept, they offer you a glass of sherry wine with a tapas dish - or you can order their small tapas menu too. Don't expect a meal from here...but a way to start or end your night. A must go if you love sherry - or haven't ever tried sherry wine before!

  • Fair warning: it's super dusty and kind of dirty, but that's the charm. Sort of like McSorley's in NYC. Friendly staff and affordable prices for a range of sherries. Good for a couple rounds, just watch out for the Gran Via foot traffic on your way there.

  • Not for everyone. Just sherry, no photos, cash only, lots of character but it's an amazing bar that hasn't changed anything in decades. If you're looking for something classic definitely worth checking out.

  • One of the most interesting and non-ordinary places I've ever visited! The concept is - no photos and no tips! They serve only sherry and tapas for them! You feel the part of this great city!
