About Madrid Rio, Madrid

A very clever public space planner saw Madrid’s Rio highway and decided this had park potential. And Viola! – there were long and wonderful walkways, on two sides of a lovely river (down which you can try and scull), and on the banks of which you can walk, jog, run, cycle, Segway, or just stroll with your romantic interest. You can rent the cycle and segways nearby (try neary Segovia bridge). There are lots of cafeterias, restaurants, benches and shady spots. It’s one of they city’s favourite family hangouts.

  • This place was reworked some years ago and they've done an amazing job. It's very nice for a walk or a quite run with your bike. Plenty of people during weekends. There's also many restaurants along the way, good to have a break and enjoy Madrid's sunny weather. On top of that there are bike renting places along the walk (i've seen a couple at least)

  • A really nice park to get out of the city for a moment. There are several places to do some sport or to play in the gardens for the children. I can definitely recommend this place to go on a day off for everyone!

  • Great place to a Sunday walk. Just after the Matadero cultural space, perfect to relax at any period of the year. I really like this park

  • One of the main reasons I moved to my neighborhood is the proximity to Madrid Rio. Even with the ugly new mall it's still a cool place to bring my dog and walk or skateboard. The Matadero is amazing and one of my favorite places to visit. I will never move away from this area.

  • Really lovely park on the banks of the Manzanares. A moderately new park but we'll maintained by the city and well loved by citizens and tourists alike Several km of jogging, walking, exercising available, as well as lawns to sit, sunbathe and play with dogs. The Matadero cultural complex is bustling with initiative and a good cerveza is never far away. Prepare for crowds on the weekend.
