San Jose Church - Review
A part of the renowned Bien de Interés Cultural- a heritage register in Spain, the Church of San Jose was constructed by Pedro de Ribera 1730 and 1742 in true Baroque style.
The gorgeous alter that adorns the church consist of a statue made by Luis Salvador Carmona in the 18th century.
Highlights of the church include:
- The chapel of St. Teresa, constructed like a miniature church and complemented with murals.
- Sculpture of Alonso de Mena and San Jose made by Luis Salvador Carmona.

San Jose Church, Madrid Reviews
Iglesia de San Jose (Church of San Jose) is located along Calle de Alcala at the junction with Gran Via. This is a Catholic church that is situated upon the grounds that once held a large Carmelite Convent. The present day church was mostly constructed in the first half of the 18th century in Baroque style. The facade is attractive with its three arched entrance and statue figure of the Virgin of Carmen. The interior of the Church of San Jose is enjoyable to see. I liked the Baroque style chapels and their nice artworks. The front alter is also quite decorative and well worth having a look. Note that It is a dimly lit so photography is a bit challenging inside the church. Overall, we enjoyed stopped by Church of San Jose for a quick look around. It is a convenient attraction for those walking down Gran Via or along Calle de Alcala in Central Madrid.
Currently it's closed but no-one bothered to announced it.
The Church of San Jose is located on a very street, Calle de Alcala. We enjoy visiting this church because it has important art. There is an important sculpture of the Crucified Christ by Alonso de Mena and a San Jose by Luis Salvador Carmona.
Historic Church located in Gran Via Street.
Nice church in the heart of Madrid!
