Koodal Azhagar Temple, Madurai Reviews

  • This is very old temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Here God is referred as Alagar. Don't forget to visit the gopur upstairs. The uniqueness of this temple is that it has Lord Vishnu is worshipped in Sitting, Standing and Lying positions.

  • The temple looks ordinary at the entrance. Once you step in and look at the gopuram u will be spell bound. And you can feel the aura when you look at the statue of the God..just cant take eyes off the God...i had such experience in tirupati alone

  • It is a very old and old Arulmigu koodal Alagar ( Perumal) temple in Madurai. Very peaceful and devotional temple in the heart of the city. Lot of marriages happening this temple. From here Madurai Meenakshi temple is just one kilometer away. Devastanam is properly maintaining the temple clean. Only problem is parking. There is no proper parking in this place.

  • Koodal Alagar/Azhagar is a beautiful temple close to Madurai Meenakshi temple. When you are in Madurai do not miss this place. Do not have proper parking place. Can park near road side. When we visited it was not crowded (During Christmas time).

  • Like every temples in Tamil nadu, this too a marvelous construction. Crowd is less compared to Meenakshi temple. All directions and informations provided in the temple is in Tamil, it cause difficulty to non tamilans who visits the temple. Vehicle parking is the main concern in visiting this shrine. We had to park the vehicle in road side with our own risk. But when we leaving from here, one guy approached with 30 RS receipt as parking fees. This is a common seen in many temples in Tamil nadu, we had the same experience in thiruppurmkundram temple premises too. Without proper parking place and security for vehicle, why these idiots taking money from devotees.
