For all the science buffs, this observatory is a must visit. Located in Socorro County of New Mexico, this observatory is next to the Langmuir Laboratory for Atmospheric Research. The observatory began operating in 2008. You will find a 2.4 meters long fast-tracking optical telescope and a ten-element optical interferometer working inside the observatory. The observatory is the result of a collaboration between New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology and the Cavendish Astrophysics Group of University of Cambridge.
