Connaught Peak Point - Review

Connaught Peak in the Old Mahabaleshwar Road is the second highest peak in Mahabaleshwar. This peak was formerly called as Mount Olympia. In 1880, the Duke of Connaught visited this fabulous spot and he was so inspired by the grandiose of the peak that he renamed the peak with his name. After that Mount Olympia became called by the name Connaught Peak. Situated at an altitude of 1400 meters this peak is a favorite destination of riders. Besides its challenging treks and rides, this peak offers stupendous views of thx`e entire Mahabaleshwar valley. Krishna Valley, Kamalgadh, Elphinstone Point, Torana, Pratapgad Ajinkyatara and Venna Lake look marvelous when viewed from the top of this peak.

  • Road to the destination is bit risky but awesome view once u reach at the top. Just be careful while going and choose early time otherwise too much fog gets there in monsoon time that you won't even be able to see the roads clearly..

  • Its a very good place to go..u can go their i think 30-35 mtr upper from car parking.

  • One of the best secluded places to visit. Hardly anyone would dare drive over here, much less climb up the treacherous steps to the top. There is a small parking on the base to accommodate cars and bikes. The climb up the mountain takes around 7 min and is not much steep. Once you reach the top, there is a tower right there surrounded by barbed wire. Some people have pulled the wire down at one spot so that you can creep I side and climb up. Beware the climb up the stairs as its steep and the wind is strong. Since there is no barrier of any sorts you must be double careful while going up. The view from the top of the tower in all directions is breathtaking. I saw a lot of beer bottles around the bushes so I assume a lot of people might come over during night time to drink. So it's advisable that you don't visit alone or bring ladies with you during odd hours as it didn't feel safe.

  • Its too much fun to reach on the top of the connaught peak. Once you reach on the top all you can see is top of tress and mountain. You have to reach over there 2/3rd way by car and remaining by walk but carefully because its full of mud and dust. Great adventure.

  • This hidden place in the woods is generally missed by the visitors, park your vehicle at the base, walk towards watch tower through dark woods and climb it if you aren’t acrophobic, you’ll find one of the best scenery of dense forest of Mahabaleshwar
