Museum Of Glass And Crystal - Review

Exhibiting some 700 pieces of glass, this recently opened museum is a visitor’s delight. There are some interesting pieces that date back to the Phoenician times. Furnished like a private home, there is a truly Spanish feel in the air. A rare gem that thrives in being intimate, this museum was the brainchild of owner Gonzalo Fernandez-Prieto.

There’s a collection marking distinct historical eras with period furniture to complement it. Ancient Civilisations - Egyptian, Phoenician, GrecoRoman, Byzantine and Islamic are well represented and displayed beautifully.

Museum Of Glass And Crystal, Malaga Reviews

  • Difficult to locate but a nice place. Excellent collection especially when you realise that it belongs to a single owner. Person guiding us ( Oscar) was too good

  • Really interesting history, the owner is very passionate about his collection which makes the whole experience so much more interesting and immersive. I honestly really enjoyed the tour, it is such a gorgeous collection of glass and made me appreciate this form of art. Also, i learnt a lot about the history of glass / glass art! I love it

  • Very enjoyable tour of a lovely tried home containing a wealth of furniture and glass from so many decades... It was fascinating to hear about the history of the house, it's owners and its contents

  • The museum of glass and crystal is one of the most attractive in Malaga. The private collection of Gonzalo is considered as old and modern at the same time. The museum is situated in a developing but ancient part of Malaga. This typical local two-storeyed building is some centuries old. The museum is devided in thematic spaces and the furniture and pictures reflect a definite period. The patio is in plants and flowers. In the spacy hall before Christmas they put Belen consisting on precious sculptures of the prominent Spanish brand Lladro. About this and all other stories connecting to the vases, glasses, jars you will be explained in three languages - Spanish, French, English. The tours are guided. The owner tries to keep special atmosphere and restored the building as more authentic as possible. Everything is made with love. And you feel it. You can see the light play of crystal and sometimes even its 'singing'. By the way in the garden of the museum music is quite often to here. Here some simphonic concerts and opera singing take place. Sometimes the hall serves for different events as well as famous dinners. The plates and glasses are of the top quality.

  • We got a tour from the owner himself. Go at 11am! Very entertaining and informative. Loved their collection.
