Leo Carrillo State Park And Beach Reviews & Ratings

  • Absolutely gorgeous gorgeous campground! We were there for the weekend celebrating my brother's birthday. It was awesome getting to spend time with family and being forced to unplug while at the campsite. Don't worry, you get reception if you walk to the store/front of the campground and while you're at the beach ;). Speaking of! The walk along the cliffs is beautiful! There are areas that lead down to little coves you can spend time at. We had to head to dog friendly beach areas though because we did have our pup, but the beach where the dogs can be is the least rocky and still a lot of fun! We also did a hike while we were there. It was a great way to start our morning. I highly recommend staying here! There's lots to do!

  • Best place to camp near Malibu. Gorgeous views on Hwy 1. The camp has bathrooms, hot showers, and a camp store for convenience. We were surrounded by mountains, lots of hiking available. The way to the beach was within walking distance. Saw a lot of bikes, which would be faster to the beach. We drove our car and parked in the beach parking lot adjacent to the camp. The Leo Carrillo beach is beautiful! That was the place we spent all our time. Swimming, boogie boarding, climbing rocks, finding sea crabs, and chasing waves. We also enjoyed watching the sunset and being there at night. Star gazing was lovely. There are 2 beaches, one within walking distance on the left. The beach on the right is further down. There is a road and a path to walk but we chose to drive. That beach has charcoal grills and picnic tables available. This beach also has a lot more space on the beach, less crowded than the beach on the right. We wanted to spend a longer trip there. There is so much to do here and we weren't able to hike or explore any of the canyons nearby. But we did find a restaurant north of there that has fresh seafood. Best calamari and chips ever! Look for the place that is packed, no parking available. People just park on the other side of Highway 1 and brave crossing the road!

  • I love Leo Carrillo. My family has been coming here to camp and to go to the beach since I was a little kid. Very fond memories here and not too far from some of the best seafood on the west coast. Campsites, hiking trails, and close to the beach. What morencouldnyou ask for. Kid and animal friendly.

  • It is a great place to do a family outing. The best part is the reasonable parking fare. The beach has bathroom facilities as well. The food quality was also great.

  • Beautiful clean private beach. Come prepared with snacks and drinks if you want to stay for the day. There's no place within walking distance to get food or water. Beach is a bit rocky and not really great for swimming. Take pictures, visit the sea cave , enjoy the scenery. Street parking and stairs to get down to the beach.
