Hadimba Temple - Review

Manali is a treat for the religious soul. The Hadimba Devi Temple or Hidibi Temple is one of the major religious sites in Manali. Another name for it is Dhungri temple. This very simply built temple is well known due to a strange geographical characteristic that the surrounding area has. A bird’s eye view of the temple will reveal that the area surrounding it is in the shape of the impression of a giant foot. The temple of her son Ghatotkach is also nearby.

This phenomenon is what increases the religious importance of the place. But the temple is not just for the religious. It may be simply built but it has beautifully carved wooden doors which enhance its simplicity. It is built almost like a pagoda with three roofs on top of each other. The temple is a religious site nestled in the midst of a beautiful green forest. It is a peaceful haven for the religious mind, the traveler as well as the nature lover.

Hadimba Temple, Manali Reviews

  • The place enhances your soul and spirituality to the deepest extent being in the city it is accessible easily. There can be long ques for visiting the inside but it's worth the wait. Calm Atmosphere except during peek season and the beautiful surroundings is pure bliss. A sense of Nirvana is achieved.

  • Temple is already a peaceful place and environment around it is just outstanding. Everything is so decent except the salesmen roaming around. It is annoying to bargain with them. We cannot trust them if the products are good or not. Otherwise it is beautiful place for tourism.

  • Immerse yourself in religious and natural fervour with a visit to Hadimba temple and the garden behind it. We went to Hadimba Devi temple as a group. There was an Aarti going on and the place seemed like heaven in those majestic musical instruments and chanting of mantras by the priests. The garden behind it is ideal for couples to spend some private moments.

  • The Hadimba temple was built in 1553, but the legend of this place dates back to the Hindu epic Mahabharata. The temple is constructed over a huge rock which is worshipped as a representation of Hidimba. The architecture of this temple is also unusual. It consists of four wooden storeys. The interior of the temple is maintained at its original earthen glory much in keeping with undisturbed natural beauty that surrounds the temple. The walls are decorated only with stone and mud impressions and figurines of goddesses and animals etc. The doors are made of intricately carved wood, and the roof is clad in metal.

  • Nothing special to mention about this place, just a simple temple. If you want to spend some time peacefully, then visit. Even then due to crowd you won't get that peace. Enjoy the nature and return. Most of the places in Manali are overrated.
