When in Manali, you can’t miss out on a trip to the Himalaya Nyingmapa Buddhist Temple. A twentieth century monastery, the Himalaya Nyingmapa Buddhist Temple is known for the iconic two storey statue of the Sakyamuni which is visited by thousands of devotees and tourists each year. The monastery is located close to the busy Mall Road in Manali and offers a spiritual retreat in the heart of the city. The monastery is built in the traditional Buddhist pagoda style and the interiors feature colourful Buddhist murals. When in the monastery, it is believed that you must walk around the chortens or stupas in the anti-clockwise direction to offer your prayers.
