Dolphin Research Center - Review
Atlantic bottlenose dolphins and California sea lions – that’s what you’re here to see. And boy can you get up close and personal with these fellas. Every 30 minutes, there’s a presentation on dolphin behaviour. The staffs are always talkative about their charges, so ask them anything. The dolphins themselves are always eager to people watch, and watching their group dynamics are fascinating. There’s a cute little mini-water park you and your kids can indulge in if you’re so inclined, called the Spray ground.
The Dolphinarium has a keen interest in making the trip especially fun for war veterans – that’s why they have the Veteran Gardens, a tranquil section created by the veterans of the Vietnam War.
For a steep additional price of $200, you can go for private encounters, which is a lot more personal experience of interaction. Book that way in advance though.

Dolphin Research Center, Marathon Reviews
Was a great trip to bring the family. My boys, age 16, enjoyed themselves very much. They enjoyed this swim even more than at Orlando's Discovery Cove. The Dolphin Research Center swim was much more interactive with the Dolphins. And, the staff was super friendly, especially a sweet young girl named Lindsey, who obviously loves her job and sharing her knowledge of the Dolphins and other sea life. Great experience overall! 5 stars!
This is a great place to visit! We stopped here while on vacation and were amazed by the love these dolphins receive. Its easy to get around and not crowded at all. The small shows were fun and it was affordable for my daughter to spend time with the dolphins up close. Lots to see and a great way to spend a few hours. Nice little gift shop on the way out and even the food truck on site made a killer sandwich for us before hitting the road
Can’t say enough good things about this place. The work they do here is great, the place is very busy with activities so you’ll never be board. The staff are really nice and full of information. This is a must visit!!
Such a great place for all ages! You can do so many things here. General admission allows you to do a ton on the property. The dolphin trainers are all so friendly and accommodating; you can tell they’re really passionate and care about the animals and their wellbeing. On top of general admission you can pay more for the different programs/activities. You can swim or paint with dolphins and so much more. It’s truly a great place and I recommend it to everyone, both local and visiting.
I've been to aquariums all over the world, and I've been to two Sea World parks- I even stayed at one overnight when I was a kid- but The Dolphin Research Center is probably one of the most amazing sea animal experiences I've ever had. That's because we could see how much love goes into caring for these animals, and because this may be the closest I have ever gotten to a real live dolphin. There are no glass tanks separating you from the animals here- they all live in unique enclosures built directly in the ocean water, the closest you can possibly get to their natural habitat. Not only can visitors interact with the dolphins, but the dolphins will interact with /you/! During the demonstrations, the trainers encourage the audience to help with the training, and while walking alone near one of the back pools, I showed a dolphin one the the hand gestures I'd seen and he rolled over for me! There are also trained sea lions on the property, and an enclosure with rescued exotic birds. Since it is mostly outdoors, the summer heat was definitely the worst part, but that isn't really under their control. They also offer lots of different programs where you can swim with dolphins, and the prices are very reasonable. This was definitely the highlight of my trip to the Keys.
