One of the most beautiful historical monuments you can visit when in Turkey is the Zinciriye Medresesi in Mardin. Built in the fourteenth century, the Zinciriye Medresesi was a former Madrasa or academy. There are several steps to be climbed to reach the madrasa which is a splendid work of art where its architecture is concerned. From the roof of the Zinciriye Medresesi you can view the sunrise or the sunset as well as a bird’s eye view of the town of Mardin below which are memorable experiences. If you are planning to visit, do check for the opening times beforehand as on some days the Zinciriye Medresesi closes early in the afternoons for prayers.
