When in Goa, take time off from beach hopping to visit the culturally significant Mahalasa Narayani Mandir in Mardol. The history and legend associated with the Mandir date back to ancient times and the current structure of the Temple was built sometime in the sixteenth century. The Mahalasa Narayayani Mandir is associated with local religious sentiments and there are idols of different deities in the Temple complex. Festive processions of the deities are carried out every week and on festivals which are of significant importance. In the Temple do take a look at the huge brass bell which has no ringer, as well as the Deep Stambh or pillar of lights.
