As it is dominated by the Hollong trees, the Gibbon Wildlife sanctuary is now known as Hoollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary. This evergreen forest, with several layers of canopy is ethereally magnificent. Home to the western hoolock gibbon and the only nocturnal primate found in this region, the Bengal slow loris, this sanctuary has astounding biodiversity. Around 220 species of birds and various snakes live in this park. Other animals found in this park include wild boars, civets, squirrels, tigers, wild cats, leopards, jaguars and elephants. The long walk to the sanctuary is stunning, as you get to witness the vivid beauty of mother nature along the path.

Gibon Wildlife Sanctuary Reviews & Ratings

  • Good number of Gibbons and other species. We are lucky to get a view of Gibbons family, immediately after entering the sanctuary. Since we were not prepared for leeaches we have not tried to explore sanctuary further.

  • Great experience! Saw the Hoolock Gibbons and blacked capped monkeys for the first time. The forest guards were helpful and shared their experiences

  • Great experience!!! A good trekking experience in the forest. To have a good sighting a number of factors matter: the weather, time of the day and your luck, if this three goes well, you can cherish your time there, admists the call of the gibbons and acrobats of the gibbons, capped-langur, rhesus macaque, Assamese macaque, stump-tailed macaque, pig-tailed macaque. I had a good sighting of them all, except the slow loris, as they can be sighted only at night.
