California State Mining And Mineral Museum Reviews & Ratings
We took a chance on this State Park over other options and were not disappointed at all. The museum is fairly small but jam packed with exhibits and information about everything mining and minerals. Minerals from all over the world as well as meteorites are housed there. The visit was enjoyed by all. We finished our visit with a picnic on the Mariposa fairgrounds.
Fantastic stop. Enjoy the history, see the natural cuts in the crystal, the rock that makes our nation. Drool, as I did, at the gold in many different forms. Hydraulic mining, learn about it, see the damage then go visit a location. Panning, lots of pictures and implements. Sluicing, yes that too. This is a great stop for the whole family. Find out about the impact of the discovery of gold in California. We enjoyed our visit!

Thanks Everyone, your all Awesome! Im definately going to go back next visit down there!
Well worth the $4 just to see the gold specimens including the 13lb Fricot Nugget. Lots of other mineral specimens from CA and around the world as well and some cool mining artifacts.
As informational as it is stunning to look at. With so many gems and minerals you lose yourself in learning them all. They do a wonderful job showing that hardship of early mining days with lots of artifacts and pieces.
