Connecting the old port to the new, this street disrupted a lot of homes when it was being built, displacing nearly 16000 people. It also cost over 100 million francs (at that time) to build. The houses around the street were rebuilt in Renaissance and neoclassical styles, instantly transforming it into a really upscale place. These days it is starting to look worn down again though. It’s worth a quick stroll from one end to the other. There are a handful of stores for you to shop at.
