Hawaiian Paddle Sports, Maui Reviews - Write a Review
We were traveling back to Maui from a day-long boat trip and one of the tour guides recommended Hawaiian Paddle Sports if we were looking to swim with the turtles. We called at 5pm and were able to book a 7am private kayak/turtle tour the next morning. We were met at the prearranged location by Nico, a young man quite knowledgeable of all things Hawaii. He was fun to spend a few hours with. We kayaked out to where the whales may be, but Nico warned us that we were still way too early into the season to see anything. While we didn't see whales, we did learn a lot about whale activity near the island from Nico. He then took us to a section of the reef closer to shore where the turtles were known to be. The reef life was amazing as we snorkeled through the area! While we didn't see turtles in that area, the entire trip was worth the snorkeling adventure. We then paddled back to our starting location and Nico spotted two turtles feeding off the rocks near the beach. We jumped out of the kayak and I was able to get a couple of underwater shots of the turtles. The price was a little higher than other "turtle tour" companies, but the value of the private tour/time with Nico was well worth the extra expense. We'll definitely check out Hawaiian Paddle Sports again the next time we're on Maui! Thanks Nico!
Outstanding - Private kayak and snorkel tour Mick was our guide. What a great guy, very knowledgeable and extremely competent. Made a couple of amateurs feel right at home and safe in the Ocean. incredible local knowledge and great grasp of Hawaiian/Polynesian history and culture. The trip itself is incredible and highly, highly recommended. The kayak trip is fun and the snorkeling and ocean/reef views are out of the world. Can't think of a better way to spend a morning. Everything about this trip is A+++ Great job Mick you are an asset to this company - thank you
Just got back from a 2-hour paddle boarding lesson with Nico. He was very patient with the two of us (especially me since I was a bit slower with the paddling :) ) and taught us a lot about the island and Hawaiian culture. We stopped to snorkel a bit and saw tropical fish, coral reef, and turtles. We even saw another turtle heading back to shore. It was a quick class and time flew by! I'd definitely recommend Hawaiian Paddle Sports for any visitors to Maui.
Taking a kayak/snorkeling excursion was the top thing on our list to do during our vacation. We decided to do a private tour, as we felt would get a lot more out of it. Man, this was probably one of the highlights of our trip! Our guide Nico met up with us and gave us a brief rundown on the Hawaiian language, the meaning of many things to the culture and people here, and how important the ocean and reefs are to them. He spoke at length about a lot of issues plaguing the reef and ocean life among many other things related to the natural environment. I am a wildlife biologist so I know when someone is blowing smoke about things related to my field. This guy really knew his stuff and was so passionate! Once we got out on the water, Nico had us snorkeling with 5 green sea turtles on an beautiful reef. He really knew what to look for and we got some stunning photos to take home with us. Highly recommend these guys and they are worth every penny!!
This was by far the best kayaking and snorkeling adventure I have ever had! Just phenomenal! Sunomen was our tour guide; his passion and love for his job made the whole experience that much better. This is a very personalized experience. You'll learn and see more than on larger group tours. This will be our "go to" the next time we are on Maui. Totally recommend this tour to everyone who has a chance to do it!
