One of the oldest temples in Kerala, Kandiyoor Shiva Temple is said to have been constructed in 823 AD. This ancient temple is one of the 108 temples of Lord Shiva and is popularsly known as Dakshin Kashi. There are many popular legends and mythological stories associated with the origin of this holy place of worship. This temple is said to house sub-shrines which are considered to be made holy by the presence of all the Gods in the Hindu Pantheon.
