A Famosa is a Portuguese fortress located in Melaka, Malaysia. It is among the oldest surviving European architectural remains in Southeast Asia. The Porta de Santiago, a small gate house, is the only remaining part of the fortress still standing.
In the 16th century A’Famosa housed the entire Portuguese administration, including its hospitals, five churches, elongated stockades and four key towers. One tower was a four-storey keep; the others were an ammunition storage room, captain’s residence and an officer’s quarters. The rest of the bastion comprised of townhouses clustered inside the fortress walls.
The fort was expanded in 1586 to accommodate Melaka’s growing population.

Its situated right inside Heritage site. Just get into the heritage/historic site and you can get a view of many other watch worthy places of historical magnificent. This fort per se isn't anything great ti watch but of course it has some history behind it. It's just a ruin and one can simply glance on the way. Take a fancy rickshaw and tour around the heritage site leisurely or rent a bicycle.
This is the place that i really want to go...its exciting to see many people. The place is so happening, colourful, wide area. I like ride boat cruise in the night..you can see many places also Taming Sari Tower
Best tourist spots located in the heart ❤️ of Malacca city full with traditional and historical architectures monumentals. The museum is the main attraction of this place, in the museum you can see many attractive statue, old coal engined transportation like train, sheep, car. If someone is very fond of arts, for them there's a historical art gallery which is full with traditional famous art from all over the world!
Not much thing to see. Many tourist that make you very hard to take photos. There's kinda have urine-ish smell in some part of the ruin. Can have a very quick walk through it but not somewhere you need long time to spend.
A lot of historical value. Needs a tour guide to appreciate all these details. Otherwise, nice scenery but a little too hot in the afternoon. It is 9 out of 10 times hot. Needs to do some amount of walking. The old and the wheelchair might not do well here. Nevertheless, it's a must visit. If you go to Malacca yet not seen A Famosa, you've not been to Malacca.
