  • A local favourite which was highly recommended by locals the there (spoke to a Grab driver who recommended it) although I do have some doubts about the place. First off, the sauce appears to be reused and not changed in between customers. It could be a normal thing there, but if its your first visit (like me), just keep this in mind. When I entered, I saw other customers dip their food (on satay sticks) into the pot of boiling satay sauce, eating off of it, and then dipping it back again. There's also a competing restaurant just beside the one we went to. Apparently, they're family who fell out and opened their own restaurants. You couldn't really tell except for the little notices that were posted, each claiming superiority and originality of the satay sauce over the other. The food was okay, not excellent, but it was definitely a novel experience. Probably would not return again the next time I'm in Malacca, but would recommend visitors to try it, even if it is just to check it off your bucket list.

  • The place is well located, just beside the main road. Food is nice, so do the staff there. The only setback is the pricing, at RM1.10/stick (but this is my first time trying satay celup so I can't say for sure how it fares compared with the others)

  • Used to be pretty good but family dispute broke them up into two, now located side by side. Prices have shot up due to the influx of tourists but food quality has deteriorated so much that you'd rather skip having satay celup altogether. That said, it gas gone from about 70 sen or less to RM1.20 per stick in just a few years says it all. Ended up with stomach ache more than once after a heavy meal here too if that's not enough.

  • Delicious food! Must try food in Malacca.. At first i think satay celup is similar like sate in Indonesia. But it tastes different, the sauce contain not just nut sauce but also kari.. Just try it!!

  • Two shops (classic sibling fallout story) side by side. The locals prefer the branch with staff wearing ORANGE uniform. The YELLOW uniform shop consists of mainly foreign workers serving you and preparing your food. I guess that's why locals would prefer the ORANGE uniform branch (which seems a lot less crowd). Go with orange.
