What to see Along Albert Street and Vincent Street you will find many of the towns historic buildings, such as the post office (1867) and the town hall (1882). This region is known as the spa capital of Australia, so a visit to the historic Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa is a must. The spa, open since 1895, makes use of water from the natural Mineral Springs Reserve. There is a warmed mineral pool, as well as a variety of spa and relaxation therapies on offer. If you are a fan of the spooky and supernatural pay a visit to Hanging Rock (of book and film fame). The 105m high volcanic rock has a fascinating history, and there is a diversity of natural splendour within the preserve, visit the Hanging Rock Interpretative Centre for the full story. The preserve is open daily 9am – 5pm (8am – 6pm during daylight savings). You could also take a night time Ghost Tour of The Convent, a magnificent 19th century mansion. Once a castle, then a convent, then a boarding school, the building has over 140 years of history. Tours only happen twice a month, and space is limited, so booking is a must. Eating out Lakehouse is a great place where you can enjoy your modern Australian dishes, they wont disappoint because the food is tasty Mr Carsisi is also worth trying. The food is mainly Turkish but even if your are not from Turkey, you will definitely enjoy their dishes. Other places that are popular in Daylesford are The Village Larder and Breakfast & Beer. Colliban is a wine bar that offers a variety of wine types, If you are looking for something Mediterranean or some tasty pizza as well as some well prepared and delicious seafood then you can go to Rubens @ Hepburn. Where to be At night you can go to Farmers Arms Hotel, this is a bar and pub, the food is great and they sometimes hire DJs on weekends. Hovart Wine Bar is where you can relax whilst listening to some live music. Festivals The Swiss Italian Festa, in late April, is a celebration of the cultural heritage of the region’s settlers, hailing mostly from Northern Italy and the Swiss Canton of Ticino. You can sample some great food and be embraced by the unique culture of the town, while you explore it.
