Newport Lakes Reserve - Review
Newport Lakes Park is a huge bushland park that offers as a great place for family picnics or leisurely solitary walks. The park was created from a former bluestone quarry and rubbish tip site in the middle of Newport. As the name suggests, the centre of attraction is the lake around which over 200 species of plants and 85 species of birds are found. In order to cover two kilometres nature trail around the lake, it takes around 40 minutes to cover. To help you self-guide, you can get hold of the brochure about the trail that is available from the on-site nursery.

Newport Lakes Reserve, Melbourne Reviews
Nice little patch of nature not far from the city. Good little picnic spots with playground for the kids and toilets. I love the little native Australian plant nursery next door as well.
Very nice place to visit, great park for kids, dogs aloud only on a leash (BUT they are working on a leash free area. ....coming soon ).Beautiful walk around the lakes or you can run. Very picturesque.
It's a hidden secret in Newport - Altona North area. A beautiful place for running , picnic, walking and spend some time of recreation. Close to the middle of the suburb.
Great park and nature reserve/lake. Lots of room for kids and families, a couple undercover bbq areas, equipment for kids to play on. Lots of nice walking and running trails around the park/lake including a weekly free 5km park run on Saturday mornings at 8am which is hosted by a very friendly volunteer team :)
A bit of the bush in the city.. bird life abounds.
