If you want to witness a unique terrain, you must plan a trip to Cribbs Meadow National Nature Reserve. It is named after the nearby Cribb’s Lodge where England’s last bare-fist prize fight was held in 1811. The meadow is essentially made of chalk and boulder clay, and only the plants that can withstand this terrain grow here. If you are a nature lover or a photographer, you will especially enjoy here because you will see some truly unique plants like water avens, cowslip, spotted orchid, adder’s tongue, agrimony, yellow rattle and green winged orchid. Butterflies like green hairstreak and grizzled yellow skippers can also be found here. You will see a lot of ponds and aquatic wildlife too.
