  • The Beauty Shop has been a go-to place for cognoscenti, for local reviewers and the hip-attuned for a number of years. I do not fit the categories and had never been before. The food was indeed creative, as advertised, and tasty enough even if the portions were predictably small. For food alone, I would have been okay if not impressed. The reception was cool to the point of indifference, the service was below average and the perhaps once charming decor needs an update. (It probably looks better at night.) The hostess greeted us as if she owed us money and, less than a hour before closing, spent several minutes going over her Ipad as if the restaurant were not half empty while searching for a place for a gauche threesome who arrived without a reservation. The waitress, when she finally arrived, was pleasant and helpful, but never offered refills of coffee or water. The water bottle on our table was empty throughout our visit. The guy who delivered our orders rudely handed me the plates without warning me they were very hot. Overall, the fly that kept buzzing our table was more attentive than the staff.

  • I've never heard of this place before today so I don't know how long it's been around but I highly recommend it if you're looking for a good brunch spot on Sunday. They open at 10, reservations aren't required but if you have a party of 3+, you may want to make one. I was alone and able to find a spot at the bar, but almost all the tables were taken and it wasn't even 11 o'clock. I got the New Orleans BBQ Shrimp & Grits and it was PHENOMENAL! Spicier than I expected but delicious all the same. Please check them out!

  • It's a cute idea, and the food was decent. However, the service was very slow. I initially thought the prices weren't too terrible. It was $10 for a rueben and fries, I thought. Drinks extra. Read more carefully though ... those fancy fries were an extra $4. Believe me, they weren't as good as McDonald's. Definitely, not worth $14 for this meal.

  • This place is incredible. If you are visiting Memphis, this location is a must if your are searching for a venue to have brunch. The decoration is very original. In the back part of the restaurant the them is, as its name indicates, a beauty saloon (or shop). If you are lucky, you will find a table in which you will have an old hair drier on top of your head. I love originality, and this place is a world class when it comes to uniqueness.

  • Been exploring Memphis for a bit and this is my favorite spot so far. Like New Orleans flavor? You're home. Don't like that? Good news they do islander and Tex as well. Enjoy the shade of the giant oaks outside too!
