Memphis Central Station Reviews & Ratings

  • Shadow of its former self, back when there was extensive passenger service to many destinations, but still a nice old building. Visit the old waiting room, if you have the chance. Of course, it's a special place for me, as it's where I met my wife; stepped off the train from Chicago, gently pressed her against the wall, and we had our first kiss.

  • This was by far the worst experience I ever had in my life while traveling. We had several delays going to New Orleans and returning home. I will never ride Amtrak again in my life. Oh and the customer service representative attitudes are the worst ever. Thanks but no thanks.

  • Services has gone down since I started riding the teain in 2011. Never thought it would get so poor. Lazy workers on the train. Can't wait to say no more train rides ending in May of 2019 . Amtrak sucks

  • This had to be one of the worst Amtrak stations that I've ever been to. It ranks right up there with that I swear that they have in South Bend Indiana. The parking is absolutely horrendous. They are doing construction and you have to walk forever just to get to the station. It is not well lit at night. There were some derelict hanging around the platform when we were there. The trains come in at off-hours. I need a handicap assistance getting on and off the train. None was available. If it wasn't for the train attendant I would have got nothing. We didn't feel safe there. Even the Lyft driver that took us there had trouble finding where to drop us off. Mostly because of the construction. If it all possible avoid the station, get on somewhere else how's that

  • The station only has one platform, and only receives two trains per day, both on the 'City of New Orleans" line, one in the morning, heading to New Orleans and one in the evening, heading to Chicago. There is a small waiting area, accessible only from the parking area, not from the street due to construction. There is an employee working inside the station, you can check bags in the waiting area. There is a bathroom and some Amtrak magazines, but that's about it, other than seating. As the train pulls in, you'll be instructed to go out to the lineup, and your ticket will be scanned and you'll head to your room/seat. The station building is alright, safe and kind of clean, but it's very minimal. Not sure if something bigger is coming from construction or not.
