Nice place to spend a few hours, especially if you have your swimming suit. I saw a number of families with toddlers through preteens playing in the water. Also a place if you have any interest in the Mississippi. There are signs and markers all along the replica with tidbits of history and engineering. I took my time, but didn't read everything. It took me about 1.5 hours to walk from start to finish.
This is such a great spot. The river walk is amazing and extremely educational. The grounds are beautiful. I've enjoyed walking around before concerts for years. Keep in mind that the surrounding water can be very dangerous. If you fall in, they will not find your body until it hits New Orleans.
It's hot bring water. Its was also lots of fun for us and the kids. I suggest some flip flops and swim shorts as you can play in the water as well as dam it up. We enjoyed finding choke points and stopping the flow to see what would happen. Very educational and fun for all.
This is such a neat little park! The museum was so educational and fun! Walking around outside to follow the river was awesome! The 2 damns in KY at Land Between the Lakes were my favorite part. We live in Paducah & visit the KY damn often so it was fun to find it out there.
The river area is still a great place for an afternoon to splash around and have a picnic. Sadly, the monorail and Mississippi River Museum are closed. Hopefully not for good as the museum is excellent.
