he Mendoza River is based by Potrerillos Dam in Argentina's Potrerillos Valley. It was opened in 2003 by a consortium subsisting of Industrias Metallurgicas Pescarmona (IMPSA) and Cartellone to provide flood control, hydroelectricity and irrigation water. The dam cost US$ 312 million to construct. This dam is the result of impressive engineering work that handled to contain the water of river in a large dam. This river used to have a noticeable rainbow trout population that soon became fitted to the new one. It is based about 30 kilometres southwest of Mendoza, the concrete-faced rockfill dam is 116 metres (381 ft) high and 395 metres (1,296 ft) long, seizing the 12 km (7.5 mi) long Potrerillos Reservoir.
