Temple Neuf, also called The New Protestant Church is another great religious site in the city of Metz. When compared to the St.Etienne cathedral, this place might seem smaller but it is no less spectacular. The construction of this building began in the year 1901. It was designed by the architect Conrad Wahn, who was responsible for most of the “Germanization” during the post-annexation period. Highlights include:
- 53 meters long and 26 meters wide.
- Capacity of 1204 seats.
- The spectacular nave and the galleries.
- Some of the best musical organs and instruments housed here.
- Stained glass windows.
- The bridge and the waterfront.
Unfortunately, inspite of being so beautiful, visitors are not allowed to enter the place. You can only walk around it.
Le Temple Neuf Travel Tips
- The night lighting is only for the building and not the bridge and the waterfront.
