The Pirámide Del Sol or the Pyramid of the Sun is the third largest pyramid in the world built in the Teotihuacan city. This enormous pyramid overshadows on the eastern side of Calzada de los Muertos. The access to the top of the pyramid is possible by climbing 248 steps with the support of rope. The Aztecs used to believe that the pyramid was built by their sun God. After the discovery of the hundred metre tunnel beneath the Pirámide Del Sol, the archaeologists have found many Teotihuacan artefacts such as the skeletons of the sacrificial victims, Teotihuacan Ocelot and a few burial sites. The climb to 70 metre top is strenuous and kids are needed to be accompanied by adults.
