The San Bernardo Temple or Church of San Bernardo is a convent complex which was consecrated in 1690. The exterior to the Iglesia boasts of the “discreet” baroque architecture with the porous reddish volcanic rock named tezontle. Apart from the façade, the niches too feature exquisite decorations, of which notable are the images of Saint Bernard and Virgin of Guadalupe. The San Bernardo Temple was a convent of Cistercian Order and the neoclassic Main Altar has a statue of Bernard surrounded by fresh flowers. The eclectic paintings and statues on the nave are also notable features of the church.
