The oldest and only tropical zoo in the USA kicked off in 1948 with the purchase of three monkeys, a goat, and to black bears. The zoo continued to slowly acquire animals, and despite a umber of setbacks that included two devastating hurricanes, it became one of the most prominent zoo’s in the country. The exhibits include a wide range of animals from four continents; the Indian Rhinoceros, a white Bengal Tiger, Giraffes, Kangaroos etc. The Aviary is famous for over three hundred specimens of exotic birds spread over more than seventy species. Miami Zoo is one of the attractions in 4 Days Itinerary Miami. Must visit this awesome attraction.

Zoo Miami, Miami Reviews - Write a Review
Me and my family live close by and love the zoo.. We enjoy our family outings here and my children love it. We decided and got a membership.. Now we just go straight to the gate any day we want.. The new addition of the Everglades is awesome.. The wet- splash zones are great for those hot summer days I do feel they should open at 9AM instead of 10AM.. 7 hours is just not enough to take it all and really go through all the zoo.
It was rainy, and we got here 2 hours before closing. We came specifically so my 3 year old could see the petting zoo, and we asked about it being open, as a lot of stuff had closed from the rain. We were assured it would be open, but it wasn’t. Upon exiting we spoke to a manager who graciously gave us tickets for our next visit. Great job zoo Miami, beautiful zoo and excellent customer care.
What an AMAZING DAY!! I had no idea of the overhaul that Metro Zoo received since was renamed Zoo Miami. There is so much to see and if you took your time, which we did, you could easily spend two days to see it all. I definitely recommend this as an easily affordable date or a fun day with the kids. The animals looked well taken care of and had plenty of room to move around which made us both happy. We even ate lunch in a gazebo while watching a trainer feed and talk about the elephants. The Look on my Girlfriend's face the entire day, in itself made the whole trip worth it for me. She Looked So Beautiful and Happy! You can't buy memories like that. I'm sure we will be returning within the year, we had an amazing day!
A zoo overrated when u read bout visiting Miami. In reality is a weakly managed setup. The cost of entry is about 26 bucks each adult. Most animals are heavily sedated so they are all sleeping. A large portion is shut due to recent hurricane which no one would tell when you buy tickets,😅 the mono rail is stupid. And best is to have a bicycle if you really have family with kids. A place for kids and hardly anything for adults. Don't waste your money better spend an extra evening at south beach Miami. Have more beer or just chill at the relaxed serene and boring beach side.
Zoo Miami makes for a good day out with the kids. We spent six hours here at a relatively quiet time so there were no special events on, and it made for a very quiet day encountering only a few other people. The cycles are a little expensive, but make for an interesting way to get around if it's not too hot. The monorail also offers a nice alternative transport, although the announcements were not all that clear (dodgy PA speaker). Personally, I would recommend allowing time to cycle around Asia and Africa once (about 2hrs with short stops), grabbing some lunch at a cafe (Carousel is better placed for time with kids, although the not-yet-open Flamingo Cafe looks interesting), and then getting on and off the monorail to see the animals once more.
