The Sunrise State Park is a well-known public recreation area and covers approximately 146 acres of land on Salmon River’s east shore. The park offers innumerable hiking trails as well as concessionaire kayak rentals thereby attracting a lot of people from far and wide. The site came to life as the Ted Hilton's Vacation Hide-A-Way after which it became the Frank Davis Resort and then the Sunrise Resort. After redevelopers couldn’t be found, the buildings were demolished to return the area to its natural state. It’s a nice place to walk your dog, go kayaking in the summer or simply enjoy a walk on the nature trail and appreciate the beauty of nature.

Sunrise State Park Reviews & Ratings
Old run down pretty much driveway. Nothing here. To see anymore
Adjoining Machimoodus. Good for dogs. (Please clean up after your dogs!)
Nice park but terrible signage! There is one entrance for boaters and another entrance 3 driveways down for non boaters. No road signs until you get onto the appropriate road and drive 50 or so feet. I made a mistake at first and ended up on someone's private road and driveway. The parking lots are "rustic". I was there to kayak on a Thursday morning and I was the only one out there. It was nice not to see any litter. The last 3 pics show you the entrance but taken on my way out. Going in, that house is on the right.
Wonderful trails to ride your horse and a small Beach where the horses can get their feet wet.
It quite and far away from noisy bus a d cars .
