This elegant 12th century abbey was built from fired brick and Candoglia marble. It's renowned as one the first examples of Gothic architecture in the Italy. It is also famous for the many frescoes inside. Check out the 56 metre high tower and its mullioned windows. Highlights of the abbey include:

  • 16th century entrance portal of the church.
  • The Baroque frescoes, notable in that most Cisterian churches tend to be bare of decorations.
  • Frescoed Scenes from the Life of the Virgin on the Dome.
  • The luminous presbytery.
  • The Cappella della Passione.

The church is an active center of faith today, so don't visit indiscriminately. Call the church and find out what would be a good time to visit.

Chiaravalle Abbey, Milan Reviews - Write a Review

  • Hidden treasure, wonderful church and tower, impressive cloister in sadly neglected surroundings...with a delightful shop with a large variety of monastic food, cosmetic and Pharmaceuticals herb extracts

  • Amazing piece of Christian history dating back to 1135 in the Milan suburbs.

  • Remarkable abbey with outstanding artworks.

Visita all'antico mulino in orari stabiliti.
