Built in the 17th century by one of the city's most powerful families, the Visconti dei Consignori di Somma, this un-embarrassedly sumptuous palace may have been the most luxurious residence in the city. The main attraction here is the fresco on the ceiling of the main room, a painting of Olympians and mythological figures by Giambattista Tiepolo. These include the Sun, Hermes, the continents represented as Animals, the legend of Persephone, Dionysus’s Myth, and many allegories. It's possible to spend hours marvelling at this ceiling.
Visits to the palace are by guided tour only. Contact the palace for details.
