The shape and size of this 17th century church is rather unusual for Milan - cylindrical and slender, built in Mannerist style, capped with a dome. There are two reasons for this. First, the space around the church was very limited. Second, the funds to built the church were limited. The church was built to mark the end of the bubonic plague in Milan. It is also unusual in that the building has functioned as both a religious and civic space over the years. There is a pipe organ from the 20th century inside.
